In the Mood

Here we go again!

We just can’t resist the urge to get Vince filled up, charged up, loaded up and head off into the sunset once more. It’s just a quickie matron; we’re heading over the water to Normandy & Brittany on Thursday night, to who-knows-where for ten nights.

We thought we’d try the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry – it’s a new one for us, a bit pricier than Dover to Calais but it avoids the problems at Calais and gets us a little closer to our destination. Not that we know what our destination is – ‘West’ just about covers it. There are so many places we skipped past on this summer’s adventure we thought we’d go back for a second look.

This time I guess we won’t be needing shorts or sandals (dammit, I think the sandals & socks Brit-abroad look is so cool) and I don’t suppose Vince’s new awning is going to get much of a workout but we’re hoping for some lovely Autumn colours and maybe a dramatic seaside storm to clear the pipes.

To get us in the mood we went to the NEC Caravan & Motorhome Show last Friday. Oh my goodness there are some lovely motorhomes around. We chose our favourite, so that by not buying it we could go home and say we saved £86,000 in one day – brilliant! We like the new trend for two-berth A-Class vans, they have a drop-down bed over the roomy cab which leaves room for a cosy rear lounge. We sat in one which had a drinks cabinet at the back, and an electric drop down shelf with a coffee maker – it even had a projector TV and electric screen which dropped automatically from the ceiling! Roll on that lottery win sigh…

We returned home with dozens of brochures and our one purchase – a bag of clothes pegs. We know how to live the high life! Truth be told we wouldn’t swap our Vince for anything – he looked after us so well all summer. For anyone who hasn’t met him yet, our guided tour is here.

I topped up the data today on the mifi so I can keep you posted while we’re away; we’ve missed you all since we came home in August so it’ll be lovely to catch up 🙂 Don’t forget to add a comment or drop us an email at ken@vincentvangone.co.uk
