Oooooh! Aaaaaaah!
Here are some of the photos I took during the Bastille Day celebrations this evening. If you look closely you’ll see they were exploding around a giant statue of the Madonna & Child which stands at the top of one of the volcanic puys in le Puy-en-Velay.
UPDATE: it’s 2am on 15th July and news has come through of the tragic loss of life in Nice during the Bastille Day celebrations. We wondered if we should delete this, and the previous post but that just lets the bad guys win. All our thoughts are with those who didn’t come home from what should have been a wonderful night out.
A sad day for Nice , France and the free world !
Can’t believe this has happened again in France. What a world.
Thanks both for your comments. There aren’t words for the kind of people who take innocent lives so indiscriminately. We won’t be blogging for a bit, I seem to have lost my sense of humour for now x
I agree with your sentiments Ken- it’s all very sad.
Fireworks as a celebration of freedom on a day when so many lives were extinguished, so very sad.
